The Power of a Testimonial

The power of a great testimonial can be hard to judge, sometimes you think the best ones will ring in the referrals and sometimes just a simple one-liner will.  As a photographer you have probably been told, even had drummed into you from your peers or maybe a mentor that you should have as many testimonials as you can get.  We have, from many!  We do subscribe to the notion that testimonials are good for your business, and of course your ego! 😉   But do Testimonials actually get read?  Its a great question and one we’ve pondered for some time, we even searched on the interwebs to find out, Google didn’t really help much!  What we have found and its been through asking friends, family and peers, so its by no means a scientific answer, the answer was yes, yes they do, however we found that if there are anymore than 3-5 of them they read the first 3, maybe jump a few read another then go on to make a decision (if there is a decision to be made).   Can you “Build your Reputation” on testimonials?  Its a great place to start for sure, as they say […]

To Blog or Not to Blog

We’ve written about this before and I think its a great time to bring it up again as its the New Year.  As photographers should we Blog or Not Blog?  We are firm believers in blogging for photography, as a photographer we want to share as much of our work as possible.  In 2016 we blogged around 10% of our work, it was one of our failings for the year, or better described as one of our “lessons learned”.   When we took the time to blog about our shoots we gained quite a bit of traffic on our website, we had enquires from new customers, we gained more traction on our Social Media.  This year, 2017 we are determined to Blog 100% of our shoots, be that Real Estate, commercial or motorsport work, even our Training Courses.   Its quite easy to have a blog, but don’t get confused from posting on Social media like Facebook and think oh that’ll do for my Blog, whilst Facebook is a good platform and we do publish our work there, it could be gone tomorrow and all your work will be gone with it!  With a Blog its on your own website, […]

Photo of the Week Challenge

We are kicking off again for 2017 the Photo of the Week Challenge – whats that you may ask? Well each week we will post a Challenge Photo Subject in the Header of our Digital Realism Photography Training Facebook Page. Over the course of the week, Monday to Sunday we will challenge you to upload and share a photo to the page for that weeks subject. The Photograph we choose as the winner will get to grace our Training page Header for the following week. Before we get started though we need a comprehensive list of subjects and that where we are looking to you to help us build the list of subjects, we have some in mind but we are sure you will have lots more we can use. 2016 Christmas Pet Photography

WOW we are having so much fun with the Pets coming into our Forest Lake Photography Studio.  This Christmas we decided to run some Pet Christmas Photos and the response has been fantastic, we weren’t sure what to expect, and whilst we’ve photographed many pets they’ve always been outdoors.  Having the dogs, cats and birds (yes we had a 20 year old Cockatiel in today!) come to the our Studio at the Forest Lake Shopping Centre has been the best idea yet! We’ve had the studio setup with the Black background with both plain and Christmas scenes.  Plus the Christmas Tree is looking splendid for the food collection we are doing for the RSPCA. We still have some spots before Christmas open, plus we’ll next Year be offering our specialist pet photography Full Time.
