The power of a great testimonial can be hard to judge, sometimes you think the best ones will ring in the referrals and sometimes just a simple one-liner will. As a photographer you have probably been told, even had drummed into you from your peers or maybe a mentor that you should have as many testimonials as you can get. We have, from many! We do subscribe to the notion that testimonials are good for your business, and of course your ego! 😉 But do Testimonials actually get read? Its a great question and one we’ve pondered for some time, we even searched on the interwebs to find out, Google didn’t really help much! What we have found and its been through asking friends, family and peers, so its by no means a scientific answer, the answer was yes, yes they do, however we found that if there are anymore than 3-5 of them they read the first 3, maybe jump a few read another then go on to make a decision (if there is a decision to be made). We’ve written about this before and I think its a great time to bring it up again as its the New Year. As photographers should we Blog or Not Blog? We are firm believers in blogging for photography, as a photographer we want to share as much of our work as possible. In 2016 we blogged around 10% of our work, it was one of our failings for the year, or better described as one of our “lessons learned”. When we took the time to blog about our shoots we gained quite a bit of traffic on our website, we had enquires from new customers, we gained more traction on our Social Media. This year, 2017 we are determined to Blog 100% of our shoots, be that Real Estate, commercial or motorsport work, even our Training Courses. Its quite easy to have a blog, but don’t get confused from posting on Social media like Facebook and think oh that’ll do for my Blog, whilst Facebook is a good platform and we do publish our work there, it could be gone tomorrow and all your work will be gone with it!
