Each year Linda and I get to travel together to one of the remote Supercar and Aussie Racing Car events, last year we went to Sydney Motorsport Park, but this year we decided to go to the most remote event for the Aussie Cars, Perth, Western Australia for our Motorsport Photography. Wednesday morning saw us head off to Perth, the trip over is a 6-hour flight (the trip home is 4 hours 15mins, go figure), luckily, we had a row to ourselves, so three movies later we are there. We rented a house in beautiful Scarborough Beach, it’s usually beautiful but for the moment it’s a huge construction site, not to worry the restaurants are still great. Garry O’Brien from Auto Action stayed with us as well, so just a few beers each night! Linda and I headed out to the circuit Wednesday afternoon, Barbagello is a pretty great place to photograph at, it’s got everything, long straights, plenty of hills and action close to us and the crowd. A couple of weeks ago I got to experience my first ever Formula One event at the Melbourne Formula One Grand Prix, many people say its the best event of the year (except maybe Monaco) being the first event for the new year. My very first taste of the F1 came late Wednesday afternoon whilst a mate and I were at the pub, the Minardi Two Seater with Cameron McConville at the wheel was running some warm-up laps for rides a bit later, to say I was impressed with the V10 scream is an understatement that’s for sure, wow. We’d get to see and hear this car each morning around 7.20am as our alarm clock. SO I’ve been to lets say hundreds of race meetings, yet here I am at the Pinnacle of Motorsport and its so laid back, nothing on track till after 9am even later some days, gees at a grass roots event we’d have had 3 races by then! 🙂 Supporting the F1 were the Australian GT’s, Porsche Carrera Cup and of course the V8Supercars. This years Clipsal 500 was without a doubt a big event for Digital Realism, 40+ Aussie Racing Cars took to the concrete jungle and 40+ cars made it out the other side too. No other class at the event could say this! I love this circuit, its a bit of walking but there are so many photo points we can shoot from, producing some of the best photography for the year. Outside of the ARC cars I was also shooting a few AGT cars, plus my Dunlop series clients too, this is what made it a BIG weekend, but I had a ball. I was going to say the weather was perfect, and it was up until the final big V8Supercars race on Sunday afternoon, just before the race started they declared it a wet race, I was at turn three and thought that’s weird it wasn’t raining, well, then the heavens opened and it poured down, its the wettest I’ve ever been at a race meeting! We needed a new logo for our Brisbane Photography Studio we are setting up in the Brisbane suburb of Forest Lake at the professional suites upstairs in the Forest Lake Village Shopping Centre (yeah our own, working space coming to fruition #wecannotwait) we really needed to get under way as embarrassingly the current two colour logo looked very outdated no longer modern or inspiring and it had to go. So we set in motion to come up with what we wanted our business to be about and align with our values for our photography business. As a Brisbane Photography business that offers website and business images to engage buyers to your brand we wanted our new logo to be catching and memorable. So between us we set about coming up with key words that we felt would portray our business values to our clients and at the same time portray a feeling and symbol that stood out. Words like fun, colourful, vibrant, modern, contemporary, futuristic with digital look, after all we are creative digital photographers.
